About Us

Our 5-bed assisted living homes in East Anchorage, Alaska, are dedicated to providing compassionate, person-centered care for females enrolled in the Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) Medicaid Waiver program. We strive to promote independence, dignity, and quality of life for our residents in a supportive, home-like environment.

Job Overview

We are seeking caring and dedicated Caregivers to join our East Anchorage team. In this role, you will support female residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities by assisting with daily activities and encouraging independence. This position is perfect for patient and empathetic individuals passionate about making a positive impact.

Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
  • Support meal planning and preparation, ensuring compliance with dietary needs and safe food handling practices.
  • Promote independent living skills, such as hygiene routines, household chores, and goal-oriented tasks outlined in individualized service plans (ISPs).
  • Encourage and monitor residents’ progress toward ISP goals, such as communication or health maintenance.
  • Provide emotional support and companionship to create a positive, engaging environment.
  • Observe and report changes in residents’ behavior or health to supervisors or medical staff, maintaining accurate notes and documentation.
  • Perform light housekeeping duties, including cleaning, laundry, and maintaining a safe and hygienic living space.
  • Accompany residents to medical appointments, community outings, or errands as needed.
  • Follow state regulations and agency policies to ensure resident safety and privacy.
  • Engage in staff training and quality assurance activities as required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Proficiency in English, including strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with residents, families, and team members.
  • Proficient typing skills for accurate and timely documentation of resident care and progress notes.
  • Therap Services data entry experience preferred but not required.
  • Experience in caregiving, healthcare, or supporting individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities preferred but not required.
  • Familiarity with behavior management techniques or cognitive impairments is an advantage.
  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record is required.
  • Ability to pass a State of Alaska fingerprint background check and drug screening.
  • Must be able to lift 50+ lbs and assist with mobility or transfers.
  • Compassionate, patient, with excellent communication skills to collaborate with residents and team members.
  • Flexible availability for various shifts, including days, evenings, overnights, and weekends.
