Summary

The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) serves as the leading physician executive for their assigned hospital. In partnership with the CEO and CNO, they provide strategic direction and oversight for all clinical and medical operations within the hospital, ensuring high-quality patient care, physician engagement, and alignment with the hospital's mission and strategic goals.

Responsibilities

• Quality and Safety: Oversee patient care quality and safety, develop clinical service lines, participate in clinician recruitment and retention, cultivate a culture of quality and safety, oversee physician performance management and credentialing.
• Strategic Planning: Collaborate with the CNO to develop and implement clinical strategies aligned with hospital goals, evaluate new clinical service offerings, and partner on strategic initiatives.
• Financial Oversight: Ensure efficient and cost-effective clinical services, manage clinical budgets with the CFO.
• Regulatory Oversight: Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, develop policies to ensure safety and compliance.
• Leadership: Communicate key initiatives, operate transparently, develop staff, manage conflicts, and lead with integrity.
• Leading People: Lead towards organizational goals, foster an inclusive workplace, promote engagement, delegate responsibly, and develop others.
• Leading Change: Act as a catalyst for change, influence others, adapt to change, and manage risks.
• Results Drive: Exceed goals, make high-quality decisions, ensure high standards, and lead budgeting efforts.

Qualifications

• Education: MD or DO from an accredited medical school.
• Licensure/Certification: Board-certified in a clinical discipline.
• Experience: Minimum 12 years of clinical experience with at least 10 years in leadership roles.
• Skills: Problem-solving, project management, change management, strategic thinking.
