Cloud and Infrastructure Architect Services
Estimated Duration: 2 years
Laurel, MD 20707 (3 days onsite in a week)
Duties/Responsibilities:
Design and implement hybrid and cloud-native architectures using Microsoft Azure and Office 365.
Lead migration of on-premises infrastructure, including storage and backups, to cloud-based environments to reduce operational overhead and improve resiliency.
Architect, implement, and support Microsoft Endpoint Management solutions(Intune, SCCM/MECM) for streamlined device management, app deployment, and compliance.
Integrate identity and access management systems (Azure Entra ID) and support multi-factor authentication for secure remote access to internal systems and applications.
Implement secure access architecture using Azure Front Door, API Management, Application Proxy, and MFA (e.g., RSA SecureID).
Design and execute Azure Site Recovery (ASR) for disaster recovery in both cloud and on-premises environments.
Provide Citrix NetScaler and XenApp infrastructure setup and support for application delivery.
Perform cost optimization analysis of cloud infrastructure services and recommend right-sizing strategies to improve financial efficiency.
Coordinate and execute cloud security posture assessments and enforce remediation of identified vulnerabilities or misconfigurations.
Ensure compliance with security and patch management policies across workloads.
Deliver technical documentation, SOPs, and knowledge transfer materials to internal IT teams and business stakeholders.
Collaborate with business units, application owners, and external vendors to ensure alignment of infrastructure solutions with organizational goals.
Education:
Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics or a related field. Masters degree preferred. At least ten (10) years of professional job-related experience with a bachelors degree or eight (8)years with a masters degree or six (6) years with a Ph.D. degree.
General Experience:
Work Experience:10+ years of experience architecting and implementing enterprise IT infrastructure, with deep expertise in Microsoft ecosystems including Windows Server, Azure Cloud, Office 365, Active Directory, and virtualization platforms.
Industry Knowledge:810 years of professional experience driving technology modernization and cloud transformation initiatives for public sector, utilities, and enterprise organizations, with a focus on secure, compliant, and scalable infrastructure solutions.
Project Experience:Proven track record in leading complex infrastructure projects involving hybrid Azure environments, enterprise backup consolidation, endpoint management deployments, and secure application access. Demonstrated success in implementing disaster recovery solutions, cost optimization strategies, and system integrations with Power Platform tools.
Specialized Experience
Cloud Architecture:Extensive experience designing and implementing hybrid and cloud-native infrastructure using Microsoft Azure services, including Azure Storage, API Management, Front Door, Application Proxy, and Site Recovery.
Identity & Access Management:Strong understanding of Microsoft Entra ID and secure authentication mechanisms, including multi-factor authentication (MFA) and OAuth 2.0, for enterprise and remote access scenarios.
Endpoint Management:Deep expertise in deploying and managing Microsoft Endpoint Manager (Intune) and MECM/SCCM for centralized device provisioning, security policy enforcement, and application deployment across multiple platforms.
Backup & Recovery:Led enterprise-wide modernization of backup strategies using DELL/APEX, Commvault, and Netbackup, consolidating multiple legacy systems into a single cloud-integrated solution with improved performance and lower cost.
Disaster Recovery:Proven experience implementing disaster recovery strategies using Azure Site Recovery (ASR) for both cloud-native and on-premises VMware environments, ensuring business continuity and compliance.
Communication & Collaboration:Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a history of successful collaboration across IT, operations, and business teams to plan, deploy, and support mission-critical infrastructure.
Skillset
Cloud Infrastructure:Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure services, including virtual machines, storage accounts, Azure API Management, Front Door, Application Proxy, and Site Recovery, with a focus on scalability, cost optimization, and enterprise-grade security.
Endpoint Management & Device Security:Expertise in Microsoft Intune and MECM/SCCM for device lifecycle management, policy enforcement, application deployment, and compliance tracking across Windows, iOS, and Android platforms.
Backup & Disaster Recovery:Proven experience designing and managing enterprise backup solutions using DELL/APEX, Commvault, and Druva, along with Azure Site Recovery strategies for business continuity across hybrid environments.
Identity & Access Management:Deep understanding of Entra ID (Azure AD), multi-factor authentication (e.g., SecureID/RSA), OAuth 2.0, and role-based access control for secure identity governance and remote access.
Data Integration & Application Access:Hands-on experience integrating internal data sources with Microsoft Power Platform (Power BI, Power Automate) using secure gateways and API-based frameworks for real-time access and automation.
Virtualization & Application Delivery:Strong working knowledge of Citrix NetScaler and Citrix Virtual Apps (XenApp) for internal and external application access, along with VMware vSphere/ESXi for virtualized infrastructure management.
Communication & Collaboration:Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally with application owners, IT teams, and business stakeholders to deliver aligned and impactful solutions.
Problem- Solving:Exceptional troubleshooting and analytical skills, with a focus on identifying root causes and implementing efficient solutions in complex cloud and on-premises environments.
Enterprise Systems:Skilled in Microsoft technologies including Active Directory, Windows Server, Exchange, SQL Server, DNS, DHCP, and IIS, supporting a range of enterprise services and security operations.
