The Opportunity
UpEquity is seeking a dedicated and experienced Director of Compliance and Licensing to join our growing team. Reporting to the CFO, you will be responsible for the second line of defense in the Companys compliance programs, and maintaining and expanding the portfolio of state licenses. This role offers high visibility and is instrumental in developing new products and features.

We are looking for a proactive individual who is not afraid to ask questions, find answers, and has the discipline and expertise to augment the Companys Compliance program.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Develops and manages compliance monitoring and audit programs and compliance policies and procedures for the compliance management program company-wide.
  • Collaborate with team members in the annual risk assessments. Participates in examinations and audits, as needed.
  • Interprets and applies consumer compliance regulations and provides continuing guidance to employees on compliance matters that have implications for all departments company-wide.
  • Manage license application, reporting, and renewal processes. Communicate with state supervisors as needed
  • Opine on new products and product features. Partner across the firm to drive improvements
  • Coordinate and run the Companys Compliance Committee meetings and work with executives and board members on related initiatives
  • Identifies potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk, assists Management to develop and implement corrective action plans for resolution of problematic issues.
  • Provides reporting of compliance activities to keep Management informed of the operation and progress of compliance efforts.
  • Manages and conducts annual compliance related training for team members.

Who You Are

  • Bachelor's degree from a recognized university. CRCM or similar certification preferred
  • Strong expertise with BSA, AML, REPSA, Fair Lending, ECOA, TILA, etc.
  • 5-8 years of progressive roles in compliance at a mortgage related financial institution
  • Willingness and ability to deal with uncertainty and ambiguity. Must be able to think constructively through new product development pitfalls and opportunities
  • Fintech and/or Proptech experience preferred
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret federal and state regulatory requirements
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities and projects, perform duties under time pressures, prioritize workflow and follow up, meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
