Position Summary: The Family Based Mental Health (FBMH) program is designed to offer accessible, in-home family therapy to children at risk of out of home placement utilizing the Ecosystemic Structural Family Therapy model which is delivered by a team of two staff. FBMH clinicians receive free ongoing training in the model through UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital. This training counts toward continuing education credits and at the end of three years culminates in certification. Family Based clinicians also have the opportunity to gain experience working with larger systems such as the justice system, children and youth services, hospitals, psychiatrists, and a wide variety of other aspects of the mental health and community systems. Working in FBMH offers a unique opportunity for individuals looking for a rewarding and fulfilling career working with children and families within our community. One of the biggest perks is a flexible schedule, which can include daytime, afternoons, and some evening hours. Family Based Mental Health Professionals have the freedom and flexibility to create a schedule that works for both them and the families they work with. 24/7 on-call crisis service is provided on a rotating basis, which can provide extra income and allow clinicians who aren’t on call to be “off” during non-working hours. Manageable caseloads and opportunities to work from home when sessions are not scheduled offer a healthy work-life balance. This flexibility also allows clinicians to plan personal time and self-care on a schedule that works for them.
