Overview Join to apply for the Group Dental Underwriter role at Aflac . Base pay range $65,000.00/yr - $85,000.00/yr Job Posting End Date: August 31, 2025 Work Designation Depending on your location within the continental US, this role may be hybrid or remote. If you live within 25 miles of the Aflac offices located in Tampa, FL, this role will be hybrid. You will be expected to work in the office for at least 60% of the work week and from home for the remaining time. Details will be discussed with leadership. If you live more than 50 miles from the Aflac offices located in Columbus, GA or Tampa, FL, this role will be remote. You will work from home within the continental US. There may be occasions to come to the office, communicated in advance. What it takes to be successful at Aflac Acting with Integrity Communicating Effectively Pursuing Self-Development Serving Customers Supporting Change Supporting Organizational Goals Working with Diverse Populations What it takes to be successful in this role Proficient group health underwriting knowledge Proficient in broker and industry practices as pertains to product, enrollment techniques, and service needs of broker and client Understanding of Aflac/Aflac Group's products and services, affiliated systems and applicable operational policies and procedures Knowledgeable in processes related to acquisition, implementation, service and billing of accounts Proficiency and experience using Microsoft Office suite software Education & Experience Required Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or related field Three or more years of professional job-related experience in the group benefits industry Or an equivalent combination of education and experience Education & Experience Preferred Completion of CLU, LOMA, HIAA or other insurance related courses Background in Dental and/or Vision Underwriting is strongly preferred Travel Underwriting of group dental and vision products and services for moderately customized RFPs; analyzes risk and financial data, and underwrites new business opportunities for groups and broker cases Communicates with brokers or clients to discuss case details and impact of underwriting decisions; adheres to applicable regulations and supports business goals Coordinates with sales team to ensure timely deliverables; develops relationships with sales partners to understand client needs and negotiate rates and plan options Maintains knowledge of current trends and ensures adherence to laws, regulations, guidelines May develop retention illustrations and discuss underwriting offers with sales operations and producers Collaborates with sales to develop talking points and strategies for rate negotiation and benefit options Communicates with sales, administration and claims to assess rating and administrative impact; discusses opportunities with senior management as requested Coordinates with other departments to ensure accurate account reporting and financial goals attainment; participates in data analysis and reporting projects Performs related duties as required Seniority level Entry level Employment type Full-time Job function Consulting Industries Insurance #J-18808-Ljbffr Aflac
