Job purpose
Under direction of the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, perform diversified duties to include the creation, maintenance and improvement of chemical processes with safety, quality at the best cost. Must use the Lean Manufacturing Tools to reach the objectives established by the company.
Duties and responsibilities
- Improve labor efficiency and productivity by elimination of waste on current processes.
- Analyze Safety, Quality and Productivity problems establishing preventive and corrective actions once the root cause is detected.
- Knowledge of chemical processes and titration for Cleaning, Manganese Phosphate, and Gun Bluing (Black Oxide) as well as adjusting the process to the proper chemical levels
- Knowledge of sandblast for aluminum and steel parts, both manual and automated
- Knowledge of Camo process using Hydro Dipping
- Knowledge of Cerakote or similar painting systems
- Analysis & development Mfg. Documentation for products like:
- Visual Aids and /or Manufacturing process.
- BOM structure
- Material Analysis for unique parts.
- Run new products.
- Labor Standard time calculations (Manufacturing routings and PQPR’s)
- Analyze work samples to develop workstations for labor utilization.
- Design and implement fixtures and tools.
- Redesign and modify production tooling, fixtures, and machines as necessary.
- Analysis of equipment, costs, and capacities (Capacity installed vs production demands).
- Layouts (Current, improvements and new).
- Work with other departments on new products, transferred products, processes or components.
- Perform on-going research and development work to modify and improve company products.
- Deal with outside suppliers on procurement of equipment, parts, chemicals, and or services.
- Prepare reports and specifications (maintain records)
- Comprehensive knowledge of process technology of the assigned areas.
- Implement process parameters as required.
- Implement new equipment and processes in conjunction with production supervisor.
- Participate in internal and external audits.
- Participate in continuous improvements projects.
- Support company policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or similar in Chemical Engineering
- Five years of experience.
- Proficient with use of computer and software applications including MS Office products, AutoCAD and Solidworks.
Working conditions
Exposure to shop elements making conditions less desirable than usually found in an office.
Physical requirements
- Standing - 8 Hours per day (or more)
- Walking - 6 to 8 Hours per day
- Lifting (below shoulder) – 30 to 50 lbs. – frequently
- Lifting (above shoulder) – 30 to 50 lbs. - frequently
- Push/Pull – 30 to 50 lbs. – frequently
- Stooping/kneeling/bending – 2 hours per day – occasionally
- Must be able to communicate and exchange information with other members of the organization verbally, nonverbally, and in writing.
- Must be able to consistently operate a productivity machine for a minimum of 6 hours per day.
