Job Description

Make your mark for patients UCB is seeking a clinically experienced, science-driven, and patient-focused Medical Science Liaison (MSL) to collaborate with the Myasthenia Gravis Team within the Rare Disease Organization (RDO) . This role aims to strengthen our Rare Disease neurological missions team in the New England region, including Pennsylvania (excluding Philadelphia), New York (excluding New York City), Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island . Please note, the territory may evolve over time. About the Role The MSL will facilitate peer-level scientific exchange with clinicians and researchers specializing in neuromuscular diseases. The role involves building trust-based relationships rooted in a shared commitment to deep, science-driven understanding of complex diseases, advancing new therapies, and exploring innovative strategies to enhance patient outcomes within the rare disease community. Who you will work with Rare Disease Medical Science Liaison organization Internal & External Thought Leaders Patient Advocacy Groups Clinical trial sites Investigators Centers of Excellence Academic Institutions UCB Commercial & Medical Affairs teams What you’ll do Manage stakeholder engagement within your region, tailoring approaches based on training, expertise, and local needs. Engage regularly with clinical trial sites, investigators, key opinion leaders, and patient advocacy organizations to improve the lives of patients with neuromuscular diseases. Provide training and subject matter expertise to internal colleagues on neuromuscular disease topics. Proactively identify new opportunities to add value for stakeholders. Develop evidence-generation projects with Centers of Excellence to differentiate UCB’s solutions. Support patient identification programs. Represent UCB at local, regional, and national conferences related to neuromuscular disease diagnosis and treatment. Map existing care pathways to identify unmet patient needs. Identify and cultivate clinical trial partners, ensuring recruitment and compliance objectives are met. Assist in identifying eligible patients for clinical trials. Build relationships with academic researchers and thought leaders to align on research and clinical goals. Serve as the local expert on UCB’s rare disease pipeline. Cultivate new investigators and respond to medical inquiries from regional patient advocacy groups. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Doctoral degree (PharmD, Ph.D., DNP, MD) or equivalent; experienced Nurse Practitioners considered. At least 1 year of experience as a Medical Science Liaison. Ability to articulate complex scientific concepts clearly. Residency within the territory. Willingness and ability to travel 50-60% or more. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in neurology, neuromuscular, or rare diseases; 3+ years of clinical or research experience preferred. Experience working with global and local therapy experts and external organizations. Experience with clinical trials. Ability to work independently across a large territory with multiple stakeholders. Compensation The estimated base salary range is $156,000 to $204,000 annually.
