Job Description

Position Summary

The Food Manufacturing Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily operations on the manufacturing floor to ensure efficient, safe, and high-quality food production. This role requires strong leadership skills, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and a focus on continuous improvement. The Production Supervisor will coordinate production activities, enforce food safety and quality standards, and lead a team to meet production goals while maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

Production Operations & Workflow Management

  • Supervise and optimize daily production activities to ensure schedules and output targets are met.
  • Monitor and adjust workflow to prevent bottlenecks and improve efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), and other food safety regulations.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, train, and mentor production employees to achieve performance goals.
  • Conduct regular team meetings, provide feedback, and support employee development.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Quality & Food Safety Compliance

  • Ensure all products meet quality and safety standards, conducting inspections and addressing deviations.
  • Implement and enforce food safety protocols, including SQF, HACCP, FDA, USDA, and company-specific policies.
  • Work closely with the Quality Assurance (QA) team to resolve quality issues and implement corrective actions.

Safety & Compliance

  • Enforce workplace safety regulations and ensure compliance with OSHA and company policies.
  • Conduct safety training sessions and audits, addressing any hazards or incidents.
  • Promote a safety-first culture and ensure employees follow sanitation and hygiene standards.

Process & Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance production quality.
  • Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to optimize equipment performance and reliability.
  • Analyze production metrics and implement process improvements.

Inventory & Resource Management

  • Oversee raw material availability to ensure uninterrupted production.
  • Work with the supply chain team to maintain optimal stock levels and reduce waste.
  • Monitor usage of ingredients and packaging to minimize costs.

Reporting & Communication

  • Maintain accurate records of production output, downtime, waste, and efficiency metrics.
  • Generate reports for management and recommend operational improvements.
  • Communicate effectively with other departments, including quality, logistics, and maintenance.

Key Metrics

  • Production efficiency: Meeting daily schedule targets.
  • Line yield: Minimizing product loss and maximizing efficiency.
  • Waste reduction: Minimizing material loss and production defects.
  • Food safety & compliance: Adherence to HACCP, GMP, and regulatory standards.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge Skills, and Abilities):

  • 3+years of experience in food manufacturing supervision or a related production environment (REQUIRED).
  • Strong knowledge of food safety regulations (HACCP, GMP, FDA, USDA, SQF).
  • Leadership experience with the ability to motivate and develop teams.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Comfortable working in a cold, hot, or wet production environment, depending on product type.
  • Available to work the 2:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. shift.
