Job Description

Project MUSE, a division of Johns Hopkins University Press, seeks a Publisher Partnerships Coordinator . The Publisher Partnerships Coordinator will be responsible for working collaboratively with non-profit scholarly publishers who participate in the Project MUSE platform. The Publisher Partnerships Coordinator will join a team of exceptional professionals committed to bringing the benefits of discovery to the world by providing global access, impact, and influence for the scholarship that we publish and distribute. This position will help to ensure that the Press is a leader in selecting and developing innovative ideas and scholarship, creating and embracing transformative technologies to enhance discovery and learning, and connecting people to the most trusted knowledge from global researchers, scholars, and educators.

The starting salary range for this position is $53,800 to $74,100.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Serve as general contact for publisher partners.
  • Coordinate communication strategies with publisher partners across various mediums including email, newsletters, virtual and in-person meetings, conference appearances, and other contexts.
  • Respond to new publisher applications for journals, books, and other content
  • Oversee collection curation and development. Consult across departments and with publishers to identify opportunities for new content that will support MUSE's growth and make informed acquisitions suggestions.
  • Onboard new publishers who join MUSE and provide orientations for new and prospective publishing partners in concert with Production team
  • Conduct market research projects on content acquisitions/sales opportunities and write up summary results
  • Draft and maintain SOPs for Library and Publisher Partnerships department processes with an eye towards improving workflows, efficiencies, and internal/external communications
  • Maintain contracts filing system for publisher agreements
  • Take an active role in annual Publisher Business Meeting and other internal and external-facing webinars and events.
  • Represent MUSE at conferences and other events as needed
  • Hire and manage JHU student worker(s)
  • Weave diversity, equity, inclusion, and access principles into all aspects of the work
  • Perform other related duties as requested.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Two years of related experience.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

The referenced base salary range represents the low and high end of Johns Hopkins University's salary range for this position. Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. Exact salary will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the successful candidate's geographic location, skills, work experience, market conditions, education/training and other qualifications. Education and Experience Equivalency
Please refer to the job description above to see which forms of equivalency are permitted for this position. If permitted, equivalencies will follow these guidelines: JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.
