Description The NISC IV program at Leidos is seeking a Telecommunications Engineer to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for processing and coordinating communication radio frequency assignments to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and provide safe voice communication service channels between pilots and controllers. The engineer will work closely with regulatory bodies, engineering teams, and project managers to support spectrum-related initiatives across various projects. Primary Responsibilities: Familiarity with frequency assignment principles, RF propagation, and interference mitigation. Ability to support coordination of radio frequencies across diverse systems, including both voice and data communications. Understanding of land mobile radio (LMR) systems, analog and digital radio networks, and narrowband operations. Capable of reviewing and validating frequency assignment data and evaluating system compatibility. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and within a team environment. Strong ability to interpret technical data and prepare documentation such as coordination summaries, engineering notes, and standard operating procedures. Capable of identifying potential conflicts in frequency usage and proposing solutions based on engineering judgment. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Skilled at working with internal stakeholders and external agencies to coordinate spectrum usage and resolve technical issues. Comfortable participating in technical discussions and communicating findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. Proficient with common office software and able to learn specialized tools and databases used for frequency management and analysis. Stay up to date with communication technologies, industry trends and standards, FCC regulations, and best practices related to RF interference and spectrum management. Ensure adherence to national and international spectrum regulations, including coordinating with regulatory authorities. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. Minimum of 5 years of experience in RF engineering, telecommunications systems, or spectrum coordination. Must have the ability to obtain a Public Trust Security Clearance Suitability (To be eligible for Public Trust Security Clearance, one must be either a U.S. Citizen OR a U.S. Permanent Resident/Green Card holder who has resided in the U.S.A for the past 3 years. All new hires must pass a drug test prior to starting with Leidos.
